Essential Education on Marijuana

Marijuana Training

The landscape of marijuana legalization is rapidly changing in the United States. It is important to understand how this policy reform has impacted communities where the drug has been legalized for medical or recreational use. This training will describe the basics of marijuana impairment, common misconceptions, the current state of legalization efforts across the country, Texas laws, and how to help prevent marijuana impaired driving.

The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) reminds us that while many states have changed their laws regarding marijuana, it is still illegal everywhere to drive under the influence of any drug. Marijuana has the potential to slow reaction time, influence judgement of distance, and decrease coordination, which are all essential to the driving task. NHTSA and the National Ad Council have partnered to develop a campaign called, “If You Feel Different, You Drive Different.” You may view additional resources here.
